[JNT Position Depth Analysis] Forwards/Strikers

Forwards/Strikers:

  1. Shinji Okazakiokazaki_shinji

Strengths: Mentality, heading, stamina, finishing, positioning
    Weaknesses: Acceleration
Q: What does he bring to the team?
A: Okazaki will always give 100% for the team. Even though he is a forward, he will chase down opposition deep into midfield in order to get possession back. Okazaki’s nose for goal is essential for the success of the JNT.

  2. Takuma Asanoasano_takuma

    Strengths: Acceleration, pace, aggression, finishing
    Weaknesses: Composure
Q: What does he bring to the team?
A: Despite his lack of international experience, he has come off the bench of Japan and scored a goal. He is a player who plays to his strengths, and it is obvious that his teammates are trying to utilize Asano’s pace to its fullest.

In my opinion, Yoshinori Muto should be the starting forward for Japan even though Okazaki has been one of the first names on the team sheet for years. Before pulling out because of injury, Muto was on fire for his club Mainz even though he would come off the bench.
